Parking

Parking regulations in Galena vary depending on the location, day, and time of the day. Motorists are urged to carefully read regulatory signs before parking. While there are a substantial number of free parking spaces in the downtown, some spaces are limited to three hours duration. Loading zones for temporary loading and unloading are designated with signs and white painted curbs. No parking zones are designated with signs and red painted curbs.

There are three public lots where all day parking is permitted for a fee. A pay and display system is utilized where you pay for time by purchasing a ticket at a walk-up kiosk in the lot. The public all-day parking lots are located as follows:

  • East side of river near Depot Information Center ($3 per day)
  • Main Street, just inside flood gates ($1 per hour or $5 per day)
  • Commerce Street between Perry Street and Washington Street
($1 per hour or $5 per day)

A shuttle from the east side public lot to the downtown is available at no cost from July through October. The shuttle operates on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. If you choose to park in the public lot, please remember that a parking fee applies.

Should you receive a parking ticket, payment may be made during office hours to the Galena Police Department at 312 ½ North Main Street or mailed to the City’s parking ticket processing and collection agency at Galena Police Processing Department, P.O. Box 3214, Milwaukee, WI 53201.

The Community Service Officers and the other Police Department personnel would be happy to assist you with parking related questions. They may be reached at 815-777-2131.
