On Thursday, June 9 at 11:00 a.m., the City of Galena will deploy a non-emergency test message to all contacts in the Galena CodeRED communications database. The purpose of the test is to improve the system for delivering messages during actual emergencies. On Thursday, Galena residents should expect a phone call, text and/or email message at 11:00 a.m. If you do not receive a message, please go to the City’s website: www.cityofgalena.org, and click on the CodeRED logo in the upper left of the home page to register or update your contact information.
The City has implemented the CodeRED Community Notification System to help disseminate important or critical information to you, both in emergency and non-emergency situations. The system also provides optional severe weather warnings. Messages may be delivered by one or more of the following options: landline phone, cell phone, text, and email.
When the CodeRED system was initiated a year ago, contacts were populated from the CodeRED System’s database—which is driven by public landline phone information. There is a possibility that our current database does not include the accurate contact information for you.
We encourage all residents and businesses to register for notifications and also include and keep update-to-date cell phone numbers and email addresses. The process is easy and takes only a few minutes. To register, go the City of Galena website, www.cityofgalena.org, click on the CodeRED logo on the homepage, and enter your contact information.
Please encourage your friends and neighbors to register for CodeRED. A CodeRED notification could be the message that saves a life and keeps you safe. If you do not have Internet access, please contact Galena City Hall at 815-777-1050 and our staff will enter your contact information for you.
