Trickle Water During Severe Cold

Trickle Water During Severe Cold

01/29/2019

The City of Galena is warning residents and business owners to help prevent their water lines from freezing during upcoming cold weather by trickling their faucets.

Anyone with unheated basements, crawl spaces, or sections of exposed pipe is asked to trickle a thin stream of water at the lowest point of their property.

This preventative measure is voluntary and the water used should cost the average customer less than $1 per day, which is a very small expense compared to the cost for a service call to a private plumber or to repair a burst water line.

Please contact City Hall at 815-777-1050 with any questions.
