Parking Regulations
Parking regulations in Galena vary depending on the location, day of the week and time of day. Motorists are urged to carefully read regulatory signs before parking.
How to pay with ParkMobile:

While ParkMobile is available at all city-operated public parking lots, the city also accepts cash payments at kiosks in two lots – City Hall and South Main Street.
All-day paid public parking:

An all-day paid public parking lot is located north of the downtown on Meeker Street. This lot is accessible by taking Main Street to Meeker Street. The lot is located to the right of the Westwick Foundry near the approach to the pedestrian bridge. All day parking in the lot is $5 per day on weekends and free Monday-Friday. Parking fees can be paid using the ParkMobile app, website or by phone. See information above. When using ParkMobile, the Zone Number for the Meeker Street parking lot is 98305.

The city also operates an all-day public lot in the downtown on Commerce Street between Green Street and Washington Street. All day parking in the lot is $10 and can be paid using the ParkMobile app, online or by phone. See information above. When using ParkMobile, the Zone Number for the Commerce Street parking lot is 98304.

All day paid parking is available at the Galena City Hall parking lot at 101 Green Street. When using ParkMobile, the Zone Number for the City Hall parking lot is 98303.

The city operates two paid parking lots in the 400 block of South Main Street. The $10 payment in both lots can be made using the ParkMobile app, online or by phone. See information above. The larger lot, just inside the floodgates, also accepts cash payments at the kiosk. When using ParkMobile, the southerly lot is Zone Number 98301 and the northerly lot is 98302. Signs are posted in both lots with the applicable Zone Number.
Free downtown street parking:

While there are a substantial number of free parking spaces in the downtown, some spaces are limited to three hours.

Loading zones for temporary loading and unloading are designated with signs and white painted curbs. No parking zones are designated with signs and red painted curbs.
Free all-day public parking lots:

There is a large free parking lot on the east side of the river near the Old Train Depot Visitors’ Information Center. The lot is accessible from U.S. 20 via Park Avenue and Bouthillier Street. Pedestrian access is available from the lot over one of two bridges to the downtown.

Free parking lot is located just south of the U.S. 20 bridge on the west side of the river. This lot is accessible by taking South Bench Street to Gear Street.

Free parking is located on Spring Street on the west side of the river, just past the intersection of U.S. 20 and Bench Street/Riverside Drive.

All day, free, on-street parking is available on Water Street. When entering the downtown from U.S. 20, access this parking by taking the first right after you pass through the floodgates.

There is a free parking lot on the east side of the river, just over the Meeker Street Pedestrian Bridge. Access the lot from Park Avenue.
Parking for Tour Coaches, Buses, and RV's
All day free parking is available for tour coaches, buses, and recreational vehicles in the Depot Park Lot on the east side of the river. The lot is accessible from Bouthillier Street. Tour coaches and buses should park in the designated area under the Highway 20 bridge. Tour coaches and buses may unload in the downtown on Green Street next to City Hall, but are not permitted to park in the downtown or residential neighborhoods. Parking for recreational vehicles is marked with signs along the black metal fence in the Depot Park Lot.

Should you receive a parking ticket, payment may be made during office hours to the Galena Police Department at 311 North Bench Street or mailed to the City of Galena, 101 Green Street, PO Box 310, Galena, IL 61036.
