City of Galena

Holiday Electronics Recycling Schedule

December 11, 2025

Due to the holiday schedule, there will not be an electronics recycling date for the City of Galena in December. Instead, there will be two collections in January—Friday, Jan. 2 and Friday, Jan. 30.

Recycle old televisions and computer monitors on those dates from 8 a.m.–1:30 p.m. at the Galena City Hall parking lot, 101 Green St. Cost for recycling is $25 per television or monitor. There is no fee for small electronics, including Christmas lights. Plan to bring help to unload large items.

Used batteries and CFL bulbs are always accepted at city hall. Unwanted or expired medication may be dropped off throughout the year at the Galena Police Department, 311 N. Bench St. There is no charge for household batteries, bulbs or medication disposal.

The city holds electronics recycling collection as a courtesy to residents. Items are taken to T&T Iron & Metals, 5158 Barge Terminal Road, East Dubuque. If you have more than five televisions or monitors or a large quantity of items, contact and transport the items directly to T&T or another recycling center. T&T is open Monday through Saturday, and cost for recycling is the same $25 fee per television or monitor.
