GALENA—Summer is just around the corner, and that means planning for the 2025 pool season at the Alice T. Virtue Memorial Pool / Galena Water Park underway. Opening day is tentatively set for Saturday, May 24. Tentatively, the pool will close for the season on Sunday, Aug. 18.
Online registration for swimming lessons and season passes goes live Thursday, May 1 at 10 a.m. To register, please click here. Those wishing to register but unsure of the appropriate level for registration should call Hillary Dickerson, facilities manager, at Galena City Hall at 815-777-1050.
Four two-week sessions of swimming lessons will be offered: June 2-13, June 16-27, June 30-July 11 (no classes on July 4), and July 14-25. Lessons are $40 per student per session. The cost of the Junior Lifeguarding class, which will only be offered during the fourth session, is $55. Parent-child aquatics classes, for parents and children age 3 and under, will be announced at a later date.
The cost of season passes is $45 each for individuals age 1 and over. There is no charge for children under 1. To sign up for a season pass, please click here.
