Boards and commissions play an important role in governing the City of Galena. Members make important contributions to maintaining and improving the quality of life in the community. These advisory groups are valuable community assets and effective partners with the city council and City staff in guiding the future of the community. Any resident of the City of Galena interested in one of the vacant positions should complete the City Board/Commission Application and submit it via email, mail or fax to:

When a board/commission position becomes vacant, the mayor considers all applicants and recommends a qualified applicant to the city council for appointment. At the appropriate regularly scheduled city council meeting, the council will consider the applicant and vote whether to confirm the appointment.
