Bill retired from Caterpillar's Joliet plant after 35 years. He has a bachelor of science in industrial technology from Southern Illinois University and has served as chair of his local chapter of Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He is currently a member of the Dubuque Fire PIpes & Drums and has served as pipe major and pipe sergeant with the band. Bill and his wife, Jan, moved to Galena in 2010. They have one son and two grandchildren.
