Seasonal opportunities
The individuals will work under the general supervision of the Director of Public Works and the Parks Foreman. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks including grass mowing, trimming, weeding, mulching and general landscape maintenance. Position could be extended to winter months to assist with clearing snow and ice. The position requires the employee to be able to operate a truck, mower, weed trimmer, snow plowing and similar equipment. Schedule varies depending on the week but minimum of 40 hours. Occasional weekend hours required. Compensation is $17 per hour. Must be 16 years of age or older.
Full-time opportunity
The successful candidate will work under the general supervision of the Director of Public Works and the Parks Foreman. The position requires the employee to be able to operate a truck, mower, weed trimmer, snow plowing and similar equipment. Schedule can be four 10-hour days or five 8-hour days. Must be 18 years of age or older. The starting salary for the position is $18.70 per hour plus benefits.
The successful candidates for all positions must be U.S. citizens and possess a valid driver’s license.

Public Works Laborer
Applications are now being accepted by the City of Galena for the full-time position of Public Works Laborer. The successful candidate will work under the general supervision of the Public Works Director and be responsible for a variety of tasks related to streets, parks, grounds, equipment and public building maintenance. The starting salary for the position is $18.70 per hour plus benefits.
The successful candidate must be a U.S. citizen, be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, possess or be able to obtain a CDL driver’s license. The position requires the employee to be able to operate a truck, mower, weed trimmer, and similar equipment. Snow plowing, construction, mechanical, electrical, and welding experience desired.
