The City of Galena fiscal year extends from May 1 through April 30. City staff begin the budget preparation process in January. The city council conducts budget work sessions open to the public beginning in March. A public hearing on the proposed budget is typically conducted in late March. Final approval of the budget occurs before the end of April. The current operating budget, and those from recent years, are provided below.
