My husband, Adam, and I moved back to Galena from San Francisco in the 1990s. I was a stay-at-home mom and member of the demolition team for whatever renovation project my historic preservation architect husband was working on at the time, including 243 N. Main St., 307 4th St., and 300 S. Main St., in Galena, and the Potosi Brewery in Potosi, Wisconsin.
As time passed, insurance became a problem for our self-employed little family. To help with expenses, I went to school and began a career as a surgery technician. Skip forward to the birth of my grandson, Nox, who was born a whopping 1 lb. 14 oz. during the pandemic and spent three months in the NICU. We took him home when he finally made it to 5 pounds. It was back to stay-at-home for me, but this time is Nana. After a year of intense hovering over him, it became clear Nox would be fine, and is now breaking me at thirty pounds and almost two.
Last year I found there was another need in the 4th Ward so I ran for office. This is who I am; if there’s a need, I do.
