The pickleball complex at Recreation Park is closed for the winter season. The City of Galena will determine the opening date. Please refrain from entering the courts until that announcement is made.

The public is encouraged to subscribe to City of Galena alerts -- available through email, text message or both -- on the city website under the Residents/Emergency Notifications tab.
Those who subscribe can select the items for which they would like to receive alerts: Emergency Resident Notifications, Upcoming Public Meetings, General Announcements, Comprehensive Plan Process, or all of the above. Simply type in your first and last name, email address, mobile number and carrier, and then confirm. Those who subscribe can unsubscribe at any point.
Reminder to Clear Sidewalks of Snow and Ice
All owners and occupants need to remove snow and ice from sidewalks that front or adjoin your property by noon each day.
CodeRED Alert System Decommissioned; Users Should Change Password
The City of Galena has been notified that CodeRED, the third-party platform used for emergency alerts, has been impacted by a cybersecurity incident. As a precaution, anyone who previously registered for CodeRED should update passwords on any other accounts where they used the same password.

2026 Recycling Calendars Now Available
The 2026 City of Galena recycling magnets are now available at Galena City Hall, 101 Green St. The magnets are free for residents.

Reminder: No plastic bags in recycling containers
The City of Galena is reminding residents that plastic bags are not recyclable through the curbside collection program. Avoid placing recyclable items in plastic bags -- garbage bags, grocery bags, etc. -- in the curbside collection cart. Montgomery Trucking will not pick up recycling in any sort of plastic bag.
Plastic bags can be dropped off for recycling at Tammy's Piggly Wiggly and Walmart in Galena.
