The City of Galena Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals will have a public presentation on the following item at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, at City Hall, 101 Green St., Galena.
Presentation of Zoning Code Audit. Houseal Lavigne Associates will present the findings and recommendations of the Zoning Code Audit to a joint session of the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA). The audit was prepared as part of the implementation of the recently adopted City of Galena Comprehensive Plan.
The Zoning Code Audit evaluates the city's existing zoning and subdivision regulations to determine how effectively they support the goals, policies, and future land use recommendations of the Comprehensive Plan. The presentation will identify areas where amendments, updates, or modernization of the zoning code may be needed to better align development regulations with the community's long-term vision. The audit is intended to serve as a guidance document for city staff and decision-makers as they begin the process of updating the city's zoning regulations and development standards. Discussion will focus on key findings, priority areas for revision, and recommended next steps for implementation.
